This atlas mountains day trip from Marrakech is the only excursion you will need to discover all there is to see outside Marrakech urban area
As it is the case for my well-appreciated medina walking tour, in the same hassle-free no shopping spirit, and because many of my guests always ask me about a trip to the high atlas mountains similar to my renowned successful medina walking tour. This is why I designed this one of a kind day trip to the high atlas fascinating mountains and enchanting valleys
a one-day trip to the picturesque Atlas Mountains to visit the valleys that make the region famous: Ourika Valley, Asni Valley, Sidi Fares Valley and Oukaimeden Valley. An immersion in the heart of the Berber Area where You’ll experience the authentic traditional Amazigh culture
This is a highly personal trip in which we take only small groups of people (four guests – either members of the same family or a small group of friends) to provide an immersive experience to enable you to engage directly with local tribes’ people, and by that we aim to embrace the principles of Sustainable Tourism.
Our interest is to help you find the place where the pavement stops and the journey begins with unusual walks to discover treasures still hidden and people who represent the true Morocco rooted in its traditions and culture. To help you Discover landscapes of immense beauty, exceptional views, fabulous encounters and certainly good memories that you will never forget.
After crossing the fertile plain of the Haouz and its many orchards planted with citrus and olive trees, we quickly arrive at the edge of the banks of the Ourika river with as background the imposing peaks of the Atlas. Located at an altitude of 1500 m, it constitutes during the long hot season of Marrakech a tempting stop for the many families in search of a little freshness. The air here is pure and much cooler than in the plain of Haouz (10 to 15 ° less).
About fifty kilometers from Marrakech, we will reach Sidi Fares a beautiful valley still not exploited by mass tourism, here we will have a stop where You can enjoy a simple but authentic Breakfast with a Berber family who, with great care will make you share with delicacy the great tradition of carefully prepared mint tea.
Further down the road is Asni which does not present any particular interest but it marks the moment of the choice between continuing straight towards Marigha, Ouirgane and Tizi n’Test or forking towards Imlil and Jebel Toubkal, the highest point of the Atlas which is our target.
This charming little mountain village of Imlil is the point of encounter for all hikers who wish to undertake the 4167 m of Mount Toubkal. Located 64 km from Marrakech, it is also a gateway to the superb National Park of Toubkal. Created in 1942 and covering an area of 38000 ha, this park offers the possibility to make superb hikes. It is here where we will have an hour to an hour thirty beautiful and revealing trek.
You know you don’t have to hike for several days or have a back as strong as Atlas to see some of the best walking sights Marrakech mountains has to offer.
An hour to an hour thirty walks if planned well can be a spectacularly rewarding experience.
On this atlas mountains excursion our bonus is a visit to a weekly market if your tour coincides with one of them which are held on most days of the week:
Sunday Abdullah Ghiat rural souk Market

Friday Ghmat rural souk Market
Saturday Asni rural souk Market
